Tips for buying training resources for RTOs
If
you're an RTO, you've likely been tasked with purchasing training materials for
your students. Or maybe you're thinking about procuring new training resources
to enhance your current offering. Regardless of your role, it is critical to
ensure that your RTO only selects training materials from trusted VET learning resource providers.
The
government has a strict policy regarding the quality of RTO training resources used in the vocational education and training system. This ensures that
learners receive accurate and consistent information across the entire sector
when completing accredited courses. The policy applies to all types of
registered training organisations, including private and public RTOs.
Most
RTOs are now actively recruiting new students and providing training to
existing students.
To
ensure that your RTO is compliant with the new VET FEE-HELP legislation, it is
critical to ensure that your RTO only selects training materials from trusted
VET learning resource providers.
Here
are some tips for finding the right resources:
·
Ensure the provider is registered.
·
Search by provider name or registration number.
·
Check that they have a current Provider Category Fit (PCF) and Provider Information Package (PIP).
·
Read the PCF and look for issues, such as quality or compliance
concerns. If there are any issues, consider whether or not you can trust this
provider to deliver a quality product to your students.
·
Check out their website and see if it looks professional and well
maintained.
·
Check that the provider has been in business for at least 18 months—the
longer, the better!
·
Check to see if they have a good track record of customer service
satisfaction from previous clients.
·
Ask around within your industry or look on social media for feedback
about this provider.
·
Check if they have been involved in any complaints against them with an
external body.
The resources available in the VET system can be a bit overwhelming. There are many different types of resources, and it can be challenging to know which one is the best for your needs.
